Medical Director

Anesthesiologist

SHARP Grossmont Plaza Surgery Center

San Diego, CA

Dr. Dorin was born in New York City just a few blocks from the World Trade Center Twin Towers. He grew up outside of Washington, D.C., and earned his undergraduate pre-medical degree at the University of Maryland with magna cum laude honors. After four years of medical training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Dorin completed his residency training in anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

While at Hopkins Dr. Dorin served as an officer in the United States Naval Reserve, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He joined the Navy in July of 1990. Like his father, he is proud to have served our country as a member of the armed forces.

Dr. Dorin has been in private practice as an anesthesiologist and medical director for nearly fifteen years. He has managed and chaired several anesthesia departments on both the east and west coasts. He has been a volunteer surveyor of freestanding surgery centers across the country and an avid writer for medical journals. He also sits on several editorial boards. Dr. Dorin is currently the Medical Director of the SHARP Grossmont Plaza Surgery Center, and is an Anesthesiologist at the Grossmont Hospital, Surgery Center and Women’s Center.

Dr. Dorin resides and works in San Diego with his wife, Shirin A. Dorin, D.D.S., who is a recipient of an independent film screenwriter’s award. He is the proud father of three children: sons, Phillip Daniel and Alexander Michael, and daughter Emily.
